Etiquette Dinners:

The members of Distinguished Gentlemen’s League provide an elegant atmosphere for fine dining in which the young men are responsible for the set-up and facilitation of a 5 course meal. This activity requires that each member have a responsibility that ensures the success of the dinner. Our guests are amazed as they take part in a positive environment dictated by middle and high school males. The young men provide a detail program over the “Do’s and Don’ts” of table etiquette. Our guests are led through each course by the “show and tell” method, led by a member of DGL. Each dinner is affordably priced and is tax deductible.
(For more information about our Etiquette Dinners and participation please see our calendar located on our website.)

College Tours:

The Distinguished Gentlemen’s League (DGL) provides educational trips to nine universities in Indiana which include: Butler University, Indiana University, IUPUI, Ball State, Purdue University, Marian University, DePauw University, University of Indianapolis and Wabash College. Each student spends a complete day at each university by taking a tour with emphasis on: selecting a university that will promote their leadership abilities, understanding financial aid and scholarship opportunities, admissions procedures, and campus life. Our program promotes state universities as it is our belief that successful individuals should give back to the community that aided in their success. Our college tours have raised academic awareness that aids members with better decision making and developing study habits in the classroom. Our members understand that education starts now and it’s never too late to begin developing positive habits.

DGL Meetings:

Attending scheduled meetings are a requirement for each DGL member. In each chapter, members vote for an administrative board which includes a President, Vice-President, Keeper of Records, and Chairman for various activities. These members are responsible for the facilitation of each meeting and working closely with the Moderator to ensure successful programs. At each meeting, members decide on present and future activities. This aids members in understanding teamwork, proper business behavior in meetings, note taking, and organization. Our meetings are designed to effectively incorporate leadership strategies to ensure successful programs.

Charitable Events

Charity Basketball Game

Members play in 5 on 5 basketball games for a cause agreed upon by the group. In March, DGL members raised over 250 canned goods for the Barnes United Methodist Church food pantry in order to raise awareness about hunger in Indianapolis. (For more information about our charitable events and participation please see our calendar located on our website.)

Community Clean-up Day

This event is designed to raise awareness to clean communities. Members schedule a day and pick a community area to clean. DGL members seek other organizations to commit to cleaning the area chosen. Each participant experiences the importance of not littering and damaging the environment with waste.
